Free CA and exam score calculator

Totals, grades and the term average in seconds. No sign-up.

Type a student’s continuous assessment (CA) and exam score for each subject. The calculator adds them to a total out of 100, gives the grade and remark, and works out the overall total and average for the term.

Exam is out of 70. The two always add up to 100.

A subject is counted once both its CA and exam scores are typed. Grades use the common WAEC-style scale (A1 from 75). If your school uses a different scale, trust your own.

How the calculator works

  • Choose your split. CA 30 and Exam 70 is the most common. CA 40 and Exam 60 and CA 20 and Exam 80 are also here, or type your own.
  • Type the scores. A score above its maximum turns red, so a typing slip such as 34 out of 30 is caught straight away.
  • Read the answer. Each subject shows its total, grade and remark. The panel under the table gives the overall total, the average and the grade of the average.
  • Copy the results into Excel, WhatsApp or a report card draft.

The formula

Subject total = CA score + Exam score. Average = sum of the subject totals ÷ number of subjects taken.

SubjectCA (30)Exam (70)TotalGrade
Mathematics245276A1
English Language224163C4
Biology183553C6
Civic Education276087A1
Term279Average 69.75 (B3)
Only count the subjects the student really took. Dividing by too many subjects unfairly pulls the average down.
