Who it is for

One platform for every kind of higher institution

Choose your type when you register and your institution starts with the grading scale it normally uses. Change any of it later.

Universities

Faculties, departments and four- to six-year programmes on the 5-point NUC scale, or the 4-point scale.

Polytechnics

ND and HND programmes with the polytechnic 4.0 scale and the Distinction, Upper Credit and Lower Credit classes.

Colleges of education

NCE programmes with the college scale and Distinction, Credit, Merit and Pass classes.

Colleges of health

Nursing, health technology and similar colleges, with a pass mark and bands you set to your regulator's rules.

How it works

From registration to course registration in four steps

1
Register your institution

Pick your type, name your portal address (like yourcollege.studypat.com) and create the administrator account. Your grading scale is already in place.

2
Build your structure

Add faculties, departments, programmes and courses with credit units. Paste hundreds of courses from Excel, then choose each programme's compulsory and elective courses by level and semester.

3
Add lecturers and students

Add lecturers and assign them to courses each semester. Add or import students with their matric number, programme and level, and send them their login links.

4
Students register courses

Each semester students see their courses, choose electives within your unit limits and submit. The department approves, lecturers enter scores, and students see their GPA and CGPA once you publish.

Course registration that works on a phone

Students sign in with the link you send them, see exactly the courses for their programme and level, and submit in a minute. Compulsory courses are already ticked. The total units are checked against your minimum and maximum, so a student cannot over- or under-register.

  • Carry-over courses from earlier levels can be added
  • You open and close registration for each semester
  • Approved registrations become the class list lecturers see

How the arithmetic works

Each course gives quality points = grade points × credit units. GPA is total quality points divided by total units for a semester; CGPA is the same across all semesters.

Example on the 5-point scale: an A (5) in a 3-unit course and a C (3) in a 2-unit course give (5×3 + 3×2) ÷ 5 = GPA 4.20. Read the full guide.

Your institution, your rules

Not on a standard scale? Build your own: choose your highest grade point, add any grades and points, set the pass mark, probation limits, minimum and maximum units, and your own degree classes. The system checks that no mark is left without a grade.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and colleges of health in Nigeria. Primary and secondary schools have their own StudyPat, with classes, terms and report cards.

The 5-point and 4-point university scales, the polytechnic (ND and HND) scale and the college of education scale are built in as starting points. Every grade band, grade point, pass mark and degree class can be edited, and you can build your own scale from scratch with any highest grade point from 1 to 10.

Each course mark out of 100 gives a grade and grade points. Grade points multiplied by the course units are quality points; total quality points divided by total units is the GPA for a semester, and the same across every semester is the CGPA. The CGPA decides the degree class.

Yes. Each semester the student sees the courses for their programme and level, compulsory courses are ready for them, they choose electives and add any carry-over courses within your minimum and maximum units, and submit. The department approves or sends it back with a note.

Add your lecturers and assign each one to the courses they teach in a semester. They sign in, see the approved class list for each course, enter continuous assessment and exam scores, and send them to the department.

Yes. Lecturers enter scores, the department approves them, and you publish. Students then see their semester GPA, CGPA, retakes and a printable transcript, and you can print a result sheet for each programme. You choose whether a retaken course counts the latest attempt, the best attempt or every attempt.

Pricing for institutions is agreed with you, based on your size and what you need. There is no public price list: request your pricing from the form on this page and we will reply with a proposal.

Yes. Register your institution, set up your faculties, departments, programmes and courses, and explore your own admin. Our team will contact you about pricing.

Every institution's data is kept apart from every other, and no institution can see another's. Administrators, lecturers and students each see only what their role allows.
